What is Registered E-Mail?

In the Registered E-Mail (KEP) system,  the transmission, delivery and reading times cannot be changed. Therefore, the integrity of the content is maintained, ensuring its legal validity in case of a dispute. The e-mail sent is considered read by the recipient at the end of the next business day. In accordance with the new regulation of the Notification Law, legal notifications by authorities made to joint stock companies, limited liability companies, and commandite companies whose capital is divided into shares will be made via electronic notification as of 19.01.2013. Therefore companies are legally required to get a Registered E-mail (KEP) account. In addition to receiving notifications from the authorities, you can also use your Registered E-Mail address for your commercial or personal correspondence.

When should Registered E-Mail be used?

You can use the Registered E-Mail system, when;

  • You want to ensure the delivery of the message to the recipient,
  • The integrity of the content must be maintained,
  • It’s critical to identify the time the message is sent/received.

Currently, Registered E-Mail (KEP) will not be used for correspondence between Garanti BBVA and its customers. During your commercial affairs that you maintain within the scope of the Turkish Law of Commerce, you can carry out your business correspondence (such as offers, agreements, terminations, order forms, notices, invoices, overdue payments, cancellation notifications) by Registered E-Mail, and receive the notifications that will be sent to you by authorized bodies, such as government institutions, within the scope of the Notification Law in electronic form.
